NOBAB is a NGO operating within the nordic countries which fights for rights of sick or disabled children in order to increase the quality of their life.

Sick and disabled children and adolescents have the same basic needs as healthy youngsters. They must have possibilities to:

• Play and learn
• Have social activities and contacts
• Feel comfortable and safe

All this regardless of where they have to stay because of their illness. From time to time these requirements are forgotten or hidden under urgent medical needs that tend to seem more important

NOBAB has six vital focus points which should always be kept in mind

• The children’s point of view should always be considered and respected.
• Childrens experiences and views are at least as important as the medical facts.
• The role of the family and friends is essential.
• Healthcare personel are guests in the life of a sick child
• Sometimes a hospital has to become the home of a sick child
• Illness of a child should never be a financial burden to a family
